Sport and Speed

The Boise Climbing Team will be offering 5 programs this Sport and Speed Season. Evaluations for the Jr., Sr., and Advanced Teams start January 14 (schedule and signup below). Evaluations are incredibly important and help coaches place athletes in the correct programs. If you miss, we can’t guarantee you a spot in a program.

All athletes MUST fill out a    goal sheet    online, which can be found    here    AND bring required paperwork, which can be found    here   , BEFORE their respective evaluation day(s).

All of the programs below are focused on improving the physical, technical, and mental capabilities of the climber.  

All of our climbers are expected to show seriousness in their climbing and are encouraged to compete in local and regional competitions. Without prior experience or a serious dedication to competition climbing, youth are encouraged to check out the Asana Recreational Team.

Adult Team
Ages 19 & up

This program exists to develop the foundational skills (physical, technical, mental, and performance) it takes to be a good climber. Climbers will be trained as athletes and are encouraged to compete in local and regional competitions. 

*Climbers must have prior climbing experience and be ready for physical, technical, and mental training. 

Day and Time
Mondays and Thursdays from 7:00-9:00pm

February 4- May 2

Cost ($60 EFT Asana Climbing Gym Membership Required)


*$400 paid in full
3 payments of $150 paid by the following dates:

  • February 4

  • March 1

  • April 1

*We offer scholarships and financial aid!  Go here for more information. Scholarship winners of the adult team will be expected to volunteer coach one of the Youth Programs 2x per week.

Ascender Team Jr.
Ages 10-18

This program exists to develop the foundational skills (physical, technical, mental, and performance) it takes to be an exceptional climber. Climbers will be trained as athletes and are encouraged to compete in local and regional competitions. This program will teach kids how to lead climb during the Sport and Speed Season. 

*Climbers must have at least 6 months of climbing experience, show above average focus, and be interested in competition climbing.

Day-Time-Location
Wednesday and Friday (5:00-7:00pm)

Ascender Team Sr.
Ages 13-18

This program exists to teach climbers intermediate and advanced skills (physical, technical, mental, and performance) while preparing athletes for competition. Meant to be a transitional program, the Ascender Sr.’s will practice some with the Advanced Team. Climbers are encouraged to compete in local and regional competitions. This program will teach climbers how to lead belay.

*Climbers should be able to onsight 5.11, consistently climb V5 and have competed in at least two USA Climbing competitions. Climbers should also be competent in lead climbing (taught in Jr. Program).

Monday & Thursday 5:00- 7:30pm
Wed from 5:00-7:00pm

Advanced Team
Ages 13-18

This program exists to perfect youth’s climbing skills (physical, technical, mental, and performance). Climbers will be trained as growing athletes and expected to have extreme focus and discipline in their climbing. Competitions include local, regional, divisional, and national competitions in the USA Climbing “Bouldering” Series and “Sport and Speed” Series.

*Climbers must be able to onsight 5.12a, consistently climb V6, and have competed in at least one USAC Regional competitions. Climbers should also be competent in lead climbing and lead belaying (taught in Sr. Program).

Bouldering Only
Ages 13-18

This program exists for those solely focused on bouldering. Climbers will continue to train strength, power, and competition performance.

*Climbers must be able to consistently climb V5, and have competed in at least one USA Climbing Bouldering competition.

Tuesday & Thursday 4:00- 6:00pm
